The Road Trip Begins

I am presently sitting in the Sacramento airport waiting for my return flight home. This has been a whirl-wind trip and we have been nonstop busy all week. I thought I would be able to blog at the end of each day but we were having far too much fun and our nights tended to run late and there was never time for blogging. I was enjoying myself too much and knew I would have time once the trip was over to blog again. So I have already talked about Sunday and the dinner with friends at Lucy’s house and our Lake Tahoe trip. I may think of other things to blog about from those days but for now will go on to our road trip. On Tuesday morning we drove to Stockton to pick up Colleen. She had to go home on Monday after our Tahoe trip to take care of some business but wanted to join us for the road trip. She has a lovely home and an amazing koi pond in her back yard and two lovely dogs, Sandy and Little Bits. We had a fun time in the car as we headed toward Monterey. Colleen had posted a message on our Donovan forum that morning and had told the group we were going to go see the Mammoth butterflies. We were actually going to see the Monarch butterflies but her little snafu was the start of a giggling session that turned into a belly laughing fest before the day would end. We all laughed about the thought of mammoth butterflies and it must have been the power of positive thought that caused a mammoth to appear before our very eyes! As we came into Half Moon Bay there was a garden shop with some giant prehistoric animals made out of rusted metal. We couldn’t believe our eyes! We had been discussing how we would go online to find a mammoth and using photoshop we would place monarch butterflies all over it. Now we didn’t need to do that, we had our mammoth! We took the opportunity for a quick photo op as you will see below. We had a nice lunch at a seafood place in Half Moon Bay where we all ordered the acclaimed fish and chips… YUM! I will pick up the story from here for next time.
