Our plan for the weekend was to go to a gem mine and spend the night in a cabin in the mountains. When we arrived in the area it was lunch time and we had planned on eating lunch in the little town of Spruce Pine before heading to Little Switzerland and the Emerald Village for the gem mining adventure. I had looked up places to eat and found one called the City Drive-In that was highly recommended so we set out to find it. We were a bit surprised when we got there, it was an old fashioned drive-in like the kind where you sit in your car and the staff comes out to take your order. No menus but the nice fellow waiting on us brought out some typed out pieces of paper with the food listed. I think it is mostly a place for locals and they already know what is available. David and I ordered cheeseburgers and Hannah ordered a hot dog. She and David had homemade strawberry milkshakes and fries too. The food was so-so and the price was high for what we got. We won't be going back. It wasn't bad, just not that good and very over priced for what little we got. We were glad we tried it though. Here's a photo to give you an idea of what the place looked like.
