NOLA

We are in New Orleans for a few days. David had a business trip here and I tagged along to take in the city. Jamie is flying in today to join us for a few days while we're here. Looking forward to her arrival. David is working today so as soon as Jamie arrives, she and I plan to get busy seeing the city. Yesterday was a full day of travel for us. We left home at 8:00am and droppped Millenni off at the kennel then drove to Charlotte for our flight. We flew to Houston where we had a plane change so I got to spend about an hour or so in my beloved Texas before we flew on to NOLA. We arrived around 5pm and had planned to take a taxi to the hotel. We were shocked to see the taxi line... there were around 100 people in front of us waiting as well. The hotel doesn't provide a shuttle service and we were not renting a car so there we stood waiting our turn. We had to wait for just short of an hour. Then if that wasn't bad enough, the taxi driver dropped us off at the wrong hotel!!! ARGH!!! We had told him the Marriott on Canal Street. What we didn't realize is there are actually two Marriott's... one across the street from the other. Can you believe that? How confusing! So the bellman met us at the taxi, took all of our bags and gave us a claim ticket and pointed us to the check-in desk. He said they would bring the bags up to our room. At the desk we discovered we were at the wrong hotel. They were very nice about it and a bellman actually walked us across the street, wheeling our luggage on the cart and got us checked in at the correct hotel. We got to the room and were exhausted. David asked me if I wanted to get out and walk around after dinner and I promptly told him I was too tired. He was thrilled to hear it because he was tired too. We ate a nice dinner at Shula's Restaurant here in the hotel then back to our room and in bed by 10pm. Travel days can wear us out. It had taken 10 hours from the time we left home until we got checked in at the hotel. After dinner we both crashed. I told David I was not as young as I used to be when I would travel. Back in my younger days my mantra was I could eat and sleep when I got back home but while I was traveling I was going to see all I could possibly fit in. Those days are long gone I'm afraid. So that's it for now. Just waiting for Jamie to arrive and she should be here in about and hour then the two of us will take off and enjoy the city. I hope to have photos and stories to post here from our adventures. Until then...
